Long time no post….

Firstly apologies for the lack of updates in the news section of our website. There has been lots going on and much of the information can be found on our other pages  and in our newsletters, however we thought it was time for an update. We have been very busy over the last year with events.

Our usual jumble sales continue to be ever popular and help to raise much needed funds for the rescue dogs at Wallace Kennels. We currently hold 5 throughout the year and we can accept jumble at the kennels any day before 1pm. We are always looking out for volunteers to help run the stalls at the jumble, so if you think this is something you could help with we would love to have you on board. Just email fowksecretary@btinternet.com for more information.

Following the success of our first afternoon tea in April 2025, we have held two more and have another planned for 11th October 2026. You can see some of the photographs and lovely feedback here.

We have updated our Facebook page and Instagram account and our followers continue to grow, you can join Facebook here and Instagram here

Probably our biggest news this year, is that our lovely Chairperson, Teresa is stepping down from her position on the committee, after 28years of dedicating her time to Friends of Wallace Kennels. We would publicly like to thank her for tireless work over the years and wish her all the best in whatever she chooses to do with all her new found free time! Good luck Teresa x

This of course does mean we have a vacancy for Chairperson, if this is something you feel you might be interested in have a look at the details below and contact us via email on info@wallacekennels.co.uk

Could you be our new chairperson?
We need a new Chairperson to help our charity continue our work.
We understand Teresa’s are big boots to fill but if you have the passion we can offer:
• A friendly group of Trustees
• A warm welcome to our small charity, we’re not looking to become big, just to
use all the resources we have effectively to help our four-legged friends
• An opportunity to be part of a creative group of people, achieving positive things
• The option to support strategic planning and decision-making
• A chance to help us to improve public awareness of our charity to increase our reach and impact.
•Remuneration of reasonably incurred expenses
•Tea and biscuits at our meetings
Interested? Please, take that next step and tell us about your skills…..
• in leading a meeting, ensuring everyone’s voice is fairly heard and that everyone has the opportunity
to do their bit
• in following the correct governance and compliance in line with Charity Commission guidance
• in helping oversee fundraising, policies, and community engagement
• In being an ambassador for the charity
• in communication and teamwork
• in being reliable and able to attend 4-6 committee meetings per year and our Annual General Meeting
(all held in Doddinghurst).

New year, New Idea…

At Friends of Wallace Kennels we are always looking for new ways to raise awareness and much needed funds for our cause.

We are currently in the process of planning an afternoon tea event. This event will take place n Sunday 6th April – more details will be available on our event page nearer.  We will also be holding a raffle at the event and are currently seeking prizes. If you have any unwanted gifts or know a company that could donate a raffle prize we would be extremely grateful to receive any items.

Looking forward to the summer, we will be representing Friends of Wallace Kennels at several events, so far we have bookings confirmed at Ingatestone show on 19th July and the Navestock village fair on 26th July. We will also be at Blackmore village show but are currently awaiting a date.  You can come along and see us at these events, where we will be selling new and used items and offering a range of fundraising activities such as lucky dips and a tombola. If you have any items that would make suitable prizes we would love to have them.

If you have any great ideas for raising funds, we are always happy to hear suggestions or are you taking part in an event this year and looking to raise funds for a charity, we would love to her from you and can help with promotion.

Please contact Julia via fowksecretary@btinternet.com to discuss any of the above.

Many Thanks

Fundraising Heroes

It’s been a busy summer for many of our wonderful volunteers. They have been helping us raise much needed funds to enable us to support the kennels.  We would like to thank our amazing volunteers for all their help at the Jumble on 7th September. A special thank you goes out to Susanne and her husband for running stalls at two fun day events hosted by Brentwood Borough Council, one in Warley playing fields and the other at The Brentwood Centre. Great fun was had by all the attendees and all of the funds raised help us to pay the ever increasing veterinary bills, fuel costs and other outgoings at Wallace Kennels dog rescue.  If you have an event that you think would be suitable for us to set up a fundraising and promotional stall at please let us know and we’ll do our best to attend if possible.  We look forward to seeing you at our next jumble sale in December, see our events page for details.

She climbed, she conquered!

If you have been following our blog about the 3 Peaks challenge, you’ll be pleased to know that Charley managed to complete the climb in 24 hours! She not only secured herself a medal but raised an amazing £850 for FoWK. Well done and thank you!
