She climbed, she conquered!

If you have been following our blog about the 3 Peaks challenge, you’ll be pleased to know that Charley managed to complete the climb in 24 hours! She not only secured herself a medal but raised an amazing £850 for FoWK. Well done and thank you!

1 T-shirt, 1 amazing lady and 3 peaks

This is the t-shirt Charley will be wearing as she takes on the 3 Peaks Challenge. It was kindly printed by a lady in Laindon, who does it as a hobby and saw our request for recommendations on Facebook. We can’t wait to see the photos of Charley wearing it on her climbs!

National 3 Peaks Challenge

National 3 Peaks Challenge

Friends of Wallace Kennels is delighted that Charley Smith has offered to fundraise for us by completing the National 3 Peaks Challenge on June 22nd. Charley is a dog lover and wanted to support a local charity that benefits four legged friends. This challenge will involve Charley climbing the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours.

In order to prepare for this amazing feat Charley has been in training and recently completed the Pen-Y-Fan Horseshoe route in Wales.

On 7th-10th June Charley will be heading to the Yorkshire Dales to do the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge, which she hopes to complete in under 12 hours to prepare her for the National 3 Peaks on 22nd June. We wish Charley lots of the luck for the Challenge and look forward to further updates here!

Changes Ahead!

Welcome to the latest blog by Friends of Wallace Kennels (FOWK). We recently held our AGM and there have been a few changes we’d like to update you on.

The wonderful committee at FOWK have worked tirelessly over many years to establish the charity and provide support for many rescue dogs that have passed through Wallace Kennels Dog Rescue in Brentwood. Unsurprisingly,  after all this hard work, both Margaret (secretary) and Josie (treasurer) are ready to take a well deserved retirement from their roles on the FOWK committee and stepped down at the AGM.    We would like to say a massive thank you to Margaret and Josie for everything they have done for FOWK and we wish them a well earned rest and happy retirement.

Moving forward Charlotte has been elected as the incoming treasurer and myself  as the incoming Secretary,. As such we are currently in a period of change, as information is updated, so please bear with us.  We are hoping to use this time to make some changes within FOWK, such as updating the website as amore user friendly platform of information,  promoting and increasing  membership and raising the profile of FOWK.

We are also lucky enough to have been approached by a lovely member of the public, Charley, who is going to be taking on the 3 PEAKS challenge in June. She has kindly nominated FOWK as the charity she would like to raise funds for. We are in the process of setting up a Just Giving Page to enable Charley to make her fundraising easier to manage. We look forward to sharing more details about this soon and we can hopefully get Charley to complete a blog about the event for us too. What an amazing thing to do…. good luck Charley!
